At the first State of Play event of 2024, Hideo Kojima’s fans got a fresh look at the eagerly awaited next installment of Death Stranding.
The game, which is titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, features Norman Reedus reprising his role as Sam Bridges.
The trailer highlights his work with a civilian outfit named Drawbridge, backed by a “generous patron.”
As he walks through a ship, we catch glimpses of his equipment and the fascinating settings that hint at a game even bigger and better than the first one.
Death Stranding 2 brings many new places and challenges to the table. We see Sam Bridges heading out on a mission to bring more of the world together with a puppet that moves uniquely, tagging along.
The gameplay trailer also shows Higgs returning, but this time as a robo-samurai who swings an electric guitar-like weapon, keeping up with Hideo Kojima’s knack for including creative elements.
The game hints at what might happen to BB-28 and other well-known characters, adding more layers and ties to the story from the first game.
Death Stranding branches out into other media following the game’s lore expansion.
A film adaptation is underway by A24 in collaboration with Kojima Productions, aiming to bring the game’s unique storytelling to cinema audiences.
Moreover, in a push towards mobile platforms, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut was recently released on Apple devices, including the iPhone 15 Pro, along with a special Backbone One controller, enhancing the gaming experience on mobile devices.
